Chili for Charity

All Fired Up for a Weekend of Fun to Benefit
Local Children's Charities

Get your taste buds ready for the 8th Annual Indian River Firefighters’ Chili & Salsa Cookoff. The Cookoff will be held on Saturday, November 12th from 5 to 9pm with chili and salsa tasting beginning at 5pm. A variety of other food choices plus beer, wine & non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Once again there is fun for all ages at one of the community’s most anticipated family events of the year.

Our Kids’ Fun Zone Family Funhas been expanded and is larger than ever! Enjoy several bounce houses/inflatables, pony rides, face painting, a Home Depot project booth and more.

Eight years ago Lieutenants David Dangerfield and Steve Graul were talking about what they could do to help support the community and put on a fun family event which involved the firefighters.  David and Steve agreed hot chili and firefighting was a good match, so they started the first Chili Cookoff in Indian River County.  The cookoff started on Ocean Drive and attendance grew so large that it had to be moved to Pointe West.  Now, the cookoff comes back to the Beachside, and under the oaks.  Over 10,000 people are expected to attend this ever-growing family event.

Another perfect fit was raising money for local children’s charities. This year’s event will benefit Childcare Resources and others. Thanks to support by the Press Journal, Heath West, WAVE 92.7, Associated Home Solutions Realty LLC., Riverside Café, Donadio & Associates, MegaCerts.com, Christina Tascon PR, Southern Eagle Distributing, Vero Chem, Bill’s TV, Minuteman Press, the Vero Beach Volunteer Firefighters, Vetrol Data Systems, hundreds of volunteers and the community. All proceeds will be donated to local charities.
